Pump Overload
An overheated motor is most commonly induced because of a condition called pump overload. Whoas may occur because of current draw, speed, as well as worn bearings. Another problem may be a faulty capacitor. If the capacitor does not offer the required microfarad value for a smooth start function, the motor can make a humming sound with no rotation.

The Water Pump Damaged Because of Carelessness

Installation of a Schuko socket with magneto-thermal protection in the vicinity and connecting it to the pump, strictly following the manufacturer's instructions, is advised. Insulated electrical cables with a voltage capacity of up to 1000 V and equal to the power consumption of the motor should be used.
Another typical problem may arise if the cooling fans are choked with dust. If the cooling fans are not able to cool the motor, the result will be heating. It is important that the fans and filters are cleared occasionally to create ventilation.
Worn Bearings and Mechanical Seals
Generally, water pumps have lubricated bearings that are protected using a mechanical seal. Over the years, the components are prone to wear.
Eventually, when the mechanical seals fail, leaks of water can start towards the bearing and the motor case. This will cause corrosion, increased noise levels, and eventually the lock-up of the motor shaft. In some circumstances, the pump might become unusable and a replacement of the major parts would be called for.
Bearings are intended for prolonged use with continuous operation. But if a pump is idle for several months, there may be degradation of the lubricated parts and rust formation on the surface of the bearings.
That bearing seal or bearing wear dye can be detected when it leaks water out of the pump shaft. If it seeps, it could be normal on certain models, but more could be an indication to look at it.
To avoid such problems, the pump bearings should be lubricated every month according to the manufacturer's directions. After the pump has been unused for some time, the lubricant should be renewed before the pump is put back into operation and the bearings checked for oxidation.
The mechanical seal has to stay watertight. Evidence that it's wearing out, loose, or leaking should prompt replacement.
Short Circuit in the Motor Windings
In the event that the mechanical seals or the O-rings are damaged, allowing the water to enter the motor windings, there are chances that the motor may short-circuit. As a result, the motor may get burnt out, which requires complete rewinding. For this reason, it’s imperative to maintain your motor properly in terms of sealing to prevent it from failing.
